A real or synthetic hair that is affixed close to the scalp using different techniques is called hair extensions. When these tools are well matched in texture and color them, and are professionally applied by a competent hairstylist, blends with the natural hair. This makes it difficult to identify the extensions from the normal hair.
Hair extensions can be used for extending hair, providing volume and adding highlights or lowlights. These effects can be attained without harming your existing hair. Some of these extensions can be used for up to 3 months without any maintenance. They are available in different textures, lengths, colors and styles and thus they can be used to match any hair type. Natural or human models are normally expensive compared to synthetic hairs because Normal hairs can be curled, colored or treated. Synthetic hair cannot be chemically treated as they may get melted by using a hot blow dryer or curling iron. Synthetic models can be bought from department stores but they must be used without applying coloring or chemical treatment. Human hair extensions are available with salons that provide hairstyling services.
Hair extensions became popular in the last 10 years, as a lot of celebrities are using these extensions for getting instant length and volume. Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Aniston are some celebrities that make use of these styling tools. The application of these products is an expensive process and there are some factors that are to be considered before applying it. The wrong way of attaching them, the wrong type of product or a poor job of attaching these tools can damage and break off your natural hair. Thus the extensions should be aware of testing that has strength, and thus not damaging the hair by using around with. For getting a natural looking great head of hair, placement, cutting and a lot of other factors come into play. It may cause up to US$ 2000 initially for applying a good extension. The type of marker used and the number of extensions applied will make the cost much higher.
