Jessica Simpson’s Country Career?

Her debut country single showed some promise, but it stalled a couple weeks ago on the charts, and slipped a bit last week. I haven’t heard it on my station that much anymore, and they used to play it a lot. I thought the single wasn’t actually that bad, and I think if Carrie, Gretchen, Faith, or any other female country single released it it would be a hit.

Her album isn’t out yet, but it would appear to me country fans aren’t really welcoming her. Why do you think that is? I think it’s because of a couple reasons…she seemed to be trying too hard (overdoing the cowboy boots and plaid shirts thing–jessica, take a look at carrie and taylor. Do you see them in that stereotypical country outfit?). But I think the main thing is it’s simply a case of her public perception of her overtaking her career. She put her life out there too much and has become a joke to the public, so as a result she will never get a real chance with country fans.

I am floored to see lil’ ole’ Jess thinking that she is a country singer just because she sang with Willie Nelson and sung “‘Boots are made for Walking.” She needs to stick with her pop style … What was her latest hit anyways?

When Jessica Simpson is sharing the stage with Patty Loveless and Loretta Lynn tonight at the Grand Ole Opry.

The Christian music thing didn’t work out, and evidently the pop music thing didn’t either, so let’s give a country a try. And if THIS doesn’t pan out, what’s next….rap & hip hop?

Why is Jessica Simpson’s new country single so popular?

I thought it was terrible. The music is whatever, OK I guess, very country-sounding. But the lyrics (which she helped write) were horrible, and more surprising, she’s not a very talented singer. There is lots of really good country music out there. Why are country music fans buying this garbage?

It’s because of her boobs, isn’t it?
I mean, I like her boobs too, but that doesn’t make me want to listen to her crappy song.

Jessica’s new song “Come on Over”, and the thought of her singing country? I actually like the song, but she shouldn’t be singing it. To me, she just isn’t country. In my eyes, a country singer is not only someone who sings country, but IS country. S/he embraces the beautiful southern country lifestyle and understands what everything means and really sings from his/her heart. I don’t think Jessica’s doing that. Sure, she’s from Texas, but does that make her country? Because I really don’t think it does. When you think ‘Jessica Simpson’, do you really think of a sweet, southern, country girl? Because most people don’t. But you DO think that way about women like Sara Evans and Martina McBride, and even Gretchen Wilson. Jessica just seems like a poser and thinks she can do anything and thinks that everyone loves her, and I’m glad she got booed at that concert, and to be honest, I agree with the quote that said “she’s an embarrassment to country music.”

OK, that came out kind of rude, I guess the bottom line, is I think she’s a beautiful, talented woman, but this isn’t her thing and this isn’t who she is. She sings pop (I think, and if she doesn’t, then whatever she sings, I don’t listen to her, so sorry I don’t know), and she should stick with that. She shouldn’t try to be someone that she’s not. Especially country.

Some people say that she can sing anything, and she’s so good at country, but the majority of those people, all they think of country is the accent. They don’t understand country music at all and they don’t know who a country singer really is.
Interesting… because I’ve always loved Shania too. But, there still seems to be something about her thats just country, and I just dont think Jessica has that.

that’s discrimination i really think is, Country Music Lovers don’t like JESSICA at all because they say she isn’t really COUNTRY,well let me tell you guys something The world is changing-the Music is Changing ,i love Dolly parton and johnny cash but they don’t sell records Anymore !! and i think people shouldn’t judge JESSICA just because she’s beautiful-hot and had a reality show on Mtv, because Carrie Underwood-Martina Mcbride and specially Taylor Swift Aren’t COUNTRY Eighter or Neighter does FAITH HILL.
